Bridging the knowledge gap
There are over 653,104 people experiencing homelessness in the US today; up 12.4% from only a year ago. According to the data, it has been determined that the major causes of homelessness is unaffordable housing and inflation met with wage stagnation; quite simply, the average household has been forced to function with less, and many are one emergency from homelessness.
While this is a national issue that must be addressed on a much larger stage, our vision is to create the catalyst for that change through meaningful action at the ground level.
With the data available California is considered the front lines of this national epidemic with a homeless population exceeding 180,000 people. New Shoes Foundation chose to locate within Los Angeles to serve as a pioneer for programs, partnerships, and policy changes that will make a sustainable difference both here and across the nation.
If nothing of significance is done to combat this epidemic, homelessness is expected to increase nearly 300% by 2030. We are committed to fighting this epidemic and we sincerely value your participation.
